Disposable Toothbrush
There are many disposable, pre-pasted toothbrushes that work well when you don’t have a regular toothbrush handy. Colgate, for example, makes a product called Wisp. These disposable toothbrushes are small (about 3 ½ inches) and individually wrapped, which makes them convenient and easy to throw in a purse or pocket. Each one has a mini bead of gel that releases when you begin to brush. No water is needed and you can clean teeth anywhere, anytime.
Floss/Floss Picks
One of the best ways to keep teeth healthy is to floss daily. Flossing can also be a great alternative to brushing when you are on the go. Floss dispensers and picks are small and portable. Flossing removes food and bacteria from between teeth and around the gum line, and you can floss virtually anywhere.
Brushing Wipes
Brushing wipes are disposable and less messy and awkward than a wet toothbrush and toothpaste. Oral-B makes a product called Brush-Ups that are individually wrapped and have a peppermint gel that gently removes buildup on your teeth. You just slide the wipe on your finger and lightly scrub your teeth to wipe away the grime. Toss it in the trash when you’re finished.
Rinse with Water
As simple as it sounds, water can do wonders for your overall oral hygiene. There is a reason why most dental hygienists use high pressure water picks to remove plaque from your teeth. This is a safe, powerful liquid that can remove a ton of bad bacteria without damaging your smile. If you have no other option for brushing your teeth, rinse your mouth out well with water.
Mouthwash
Mouthwash can be a good fallback for times when you may not have a toothbrush on hand. Mouthwash, like toothpaste, helps clear away food particles and bacteria, leaving your breath fresh and your teeth clean. Be sure to brush as soon as possible though; mouthwash is no substitute for brushing.
Sugarless Chewing Gum
Sugarless chewing gum can actually be a benefit to your oral health because it causes you to naturally produce extra saliva. That saliva will help wash away the bad bacteria in your mouth and flush it out of your system. Chewing gum may also loosen some food particles that are stuck between your teeth. It’s a win-win solution!
Healthy Snacks
Snacking on celery, carrots, or apples can actually help you clean your teeth. During the chewing process, these foods tend to clear away loose food and debris that get stuck in between your teeth.
